LET’S HEAR IT FOR
THE LOSERS!
The votes are in, and the
amendment to the ABC Code of Ethics to allow Limited Registration of our white puppies
with a stringent spay/neuter contract did NOT pass. No big surprise, considering the
traditional opposition to any change, no matter how benign or beneficial, exhibited by
many oldtime ABC members. Unfortunately, this appears to be an idea whose time has not yet
come. But it will come, and in the meantime, BU salutes the ABC Board members who
had the courage and foresight to give ABC members the opportunity to decide this issue at
the ballot box.
THE BRITS ARE COMING!
Actually, they’re already
here in BU, in the form of articles and photos that describe and illustrate our recent
visit to the UK, the Windsor Show, and the homes of several
prominent UK Boxer breeders. Huge "Yank" thanks for their marvelous
"Brit" hospitality to Bruce and Jo Cattanach (Steynmere) and Jenny and Peter
Whittaker (Bucksteps).
We’re also featuring the
final installments of Dr. Cattanach’s "Bobtail Story,"
along with a very interesting opinion piece by Tim Hutchings, owner/editor of the UK Boxer Quarterly.

One of our favorite US
authors, breeder-judge Rick Beauchamp, is back in BU again with a really terrific article
on "The Stud Dog." Even better, the article looks as though it were written with
a sequel in mind. How about it, Rick?

That’s supposed to be an
old curse, but Pat and I don’t see it that way. We hope the BU adds some interesting
times...and ideas...to your life with boxers, and that you’ll contribute some
