Don't think the supporters of AB418 have any connection to the fanatics
who feel humans and animals have equal status and, therefore, seek to end
our right to own animals as pets, use them in service, or eat them as
food? Think again!

"We feel that animals have the same rights as retarded
children."
-Alex Pacheco, Director, PETA, New
York Times, January 14, 1989.** (PETA is a supporter of AB418.)
"The life of an ant and that of my child should be granted
equal consideration."
-Michael W. Fox, Vice President, The Humane
Society of the United States, The Inhumane Society, New York, 1990.

And possibly the most offensive of all! :
"Six million Jews died in concentration camps, but six billion
broiler chickens will die this year in slaughter houses."
-Ingrid Newkirk, President, PETA, The
Washington Post, November 13, 1983.**
(PETA is a supporter of AB418.)
I love my dogs and can't imagine life without them. They are my
passion. But they will NEVER have equal status with my daughter.
If any of you agree with the folks above that "animals have the
same rights as retarded children," "the life of an ant and that
of my child should be granted equal consideration," or that there's
*any* comparison between the slaughter of Jews in the concentration camps
and the slaughter of chickens for food, you and I won't find much common
ground. Period.
And if any of you have your head so firmly buried in the sand that you
think the California anti-cropping bill isn't simply the first battle in a
long agenda for the extremists who think animals are our equals, the
coffee is brewing. You'd better wake up a smell it before it's too
late!
