Tanker attended ABC for the first time in Maryland
as a puppy carried in a knapsack by his owner, Rachel Osborne…and for
the last time just a few weeks ago. Tanker became a familiar sight
around the yearly ABC doings, where he could often be seen at the Boxer
Rescue Foundation booth greeting all the visitors.
Tanker was always a gentleman, greeting
old friends, both two-legged and four. The big white dog with the
beautiful head never met a stranger – he loved everyone.
As Rachel's eyesight deteriorated, Tanker became her
guide and helper. He learned the names of Rachel's friends, and a
command to "follow Delma" kept Rachel on the correct path
while Tanker watched for stairs and obstacles.
Tanker lost his battle to Lymphoma just a couple weeks
after ABC. He will be sadly missed by all his many friends and admirers.
Sleep well, Tanker, we all loved you.
