VIEW YOUR ABC PHOTOS HERE!

Well…a few of them, at any rate. Because the official ABC photographs were a huge disappointment, most of the photos published here are informal photos taken by friends of the winners, photos of other show wins, or pictures taken in the winner’s back yard or at the beach. If your boxer won or placed at the ABC and you still don’t have the official photo, but want to add a picture to BU, just drop us a line. We’ll make do with whatever you have. :)

ALL IN FAVOR OF PUPPY MILLS, RAISE YOUR HAND…

Well, of course NO ONE could be in favor of puppy mills – right? On the other hand, surely no one is in favor of losing more ground to the AR fanatics. For an interesting perspective on possible new tactics in the war against the AR Movement, read BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE, in this issue.

EAR WARS II

Actually, the whole point of this editorial is that nobody wants a Second Ear Wars, least of all the breeders/exhibitors who favor choice and want a description of the boxer’s natural ear included in the standard. The Boxer Standard will be open for amendment again early in 2004, but in our opinion, as long as the ABC Board remains convinced that the majority of ABC members favor keeping the standard as it is, it would be the height of counter-productiveness for someone to start another petition drive to get an “ears” amendment on the ballot. Would the petition drive succeed? Yes it would, beyond a doubt. There are many, many ABC members who are in favor of choice (over 41% of those who voted last time). Would the ballot initiative succeed? No it would not – not if the board reacted to pressure as they did last time, and recommended a NO vote. So here’s the plan: If you are an ABC member, or a member of a member club, let ABC president Dr. Jim Kilman hear from YOU, his constituency. Tell him that you want to see the standard offer a choice of cropped or uncropped ears, without penalty, in the show ring. Let him know that you are appalled by the fact that several AKC judges have used

Amendment B as a pretext to excuse uncropped boxers from the ring! And remember, we’re not looking for individual responses from Dr. Kilman – we’re hoping to convince him, and the ABC Board, that his (and their) constituents want choice in showing cropped or uncropped boxers without penalty. Dr. Kilman’s e-mail address is Leoline@aol.com. Let the campaign begin!
