Top Performance Dog

Each year we offer this award we wish we could give an award to everyone who qualifies. Even to qualify is an unbelievable accomplishment.

The qualifications are an AKC title in two of the three performance events, agility, obedience, or tracking. One title having been earned in 1999 for this year’s award.

The qualifiers this year were, Ellen Gruber, Tracy Hendrickson, Lynda Nemec and Adrienne Terrell. For these people to reach this level of achievement their dedication is, for most of us, not even conceivable. Most of us compete with our boxers and know the commitment it takes. However, to keep a performance dog in condition & trained adds another whole dimension. Not to mention the dogs own talent.

This year picking a winner was even more difficult. We were at the eleventh hour before we finally made a decision. The 1999 Top Performance Dog award went to Ch Sunchases Suicide Blonde and owner breeder handler Tracy Hendrickson. Chili was handled in the breed ring by Lori Mclain.

Ch. Sunchases Suicide Blonde

Chili has 25 performance titles in addition to her breed championships in Canada Bermuda and the USA (Three Majors one a 5). They depict her amazing versatility and are truly a supreme credit to the Boxer breed. Tracy’s achievements and dedication to the breed reflect her own commitment to boxers.

Chili’s sire is Ch Shieldmonts"s Let’s Make a Deal Sire of Merit, dam Ch Sunchase’s Hollywood Hype with five performance titles herself.

I summarize the titles in the following paragraph to save space. We had a difficult time fitting all of them on the plaque.

Chili has achieved one of the highest level of obedience titles AKC offers, Utility Dog, as well as her breed championship and two midlevel agility titles..A….. CD and breed championship in both Canada and Bermuda. A…. UKC breed championship, obedience and agility titles. Two schutzhund titles one for endurance where the dog bikes with owner for 12 miles. And, three versatility titles, a therapy certificate and a herding instinct title.

The greatest compliment to me and to this relatively new award was the standing ovation Tracy received when we presented the award at the ABC dinner.

We welcome Tracy to the committee for the Top Performance Dog Award. This year we will be trying to convince the ABC board that there should be an achievement award given to each one of the qualifiers; as well as the plaque for the winner of the award.

Congratulations to Tracy and:

U-ATCH, U-AGI, UAGII, U-CD, U-CH AM/CAN/BDA
CH SUNCHASE’S SUICIDE BLONDE
AM/CAN/BDA CD, CDX, UD, NA, NAJ, OAJ, TT, TDI,CGC, BH, AD, VCC, VCCX, VO

I’m pretty sure there are more since this was written but you get the idea. A special thank you to my committee for the momentous task of deciphering all these titles..
